So why is this important? Well you as a creative depend on your emotional and physical health to generate creative energy. As you create, you use up this energy, I think of it as fuel, so eventually you hit empty and need to top up. Topping up is critical for creating and is only attainable through having balance in your life, and that looks very different for everyone, so keep that in mind.

  • The benefits:
    • Its fun to play and doing things that are not under the pressure of work, deadlines, requirements, etc. it relieves stress
    • It allows your mind to work on problems unconscientiously, giving you access to stronger creative solutions
    • It allow you go back to your work with a fresh eye, which as well all know is awesome ot look at your work in a way that you haven’t seen it before
Example: Constant last minute changes and requests that are not with the scope of the project.
Tip: Ensure that you stay firm with the requirements of the project and your contract is key!
  • How can we do this?
    • Go for walks, bike rides, runs to explore the world outside of your studio, experience life, just step away from your work
    • Sleep! You may have been running yourself ragged over a long period of time, to no success. Your brain needs rest!
    • Buy yourself something nice, funky hat, a toy, anything that makes you feel good and allows you to express your artist
    • Do something outside of your comfort zone, to experience something new opens up your mind to new experiences. New experiences motivate and creates inspiration
